Contacts with African countries
Several meeting and mail contacts with potential African members from South Africa, Nigeria, Algeria, Egypt and Ghana. The progress of that work is described in the separate document: “Exploring closer cooperation with African members” and detailed in an excel sheet.
Most persons, who are active in noise and vibration, are very interested in cooperating with I-INCE. However, there are at the moment no acoustic societies available to channel such participation, even if the member fees to become a member of I-INCE are very modest. To alleviate this process, I-INCE might consider the possibilities for individual persons, companies or universities to become a member. In this
way they can join on-line lectures, communicate with other research groups, and enjoy the
benefits of I-INCE membership, such as support in organizing symposia.
Further attempts to contact possible future members and individuals at the upcoming Inter-
Noise conferences, particularly in Brazil due to its closeness to African continent should be
pursued.
Given the present lack of formal associations it may be hard to materialize the objective to
have an Inter-Noise congress organized in an African country in 10 years.
